E-bikes level the playing field so grandparents and grandchildren, avid bikers and their health-limited partners can all bike together at a pace that works for everyone. You choose the effort level. The bike’s electric pedal assist smooths out the hills and lengthens the distance you can go. What’s an e-Bike? An electric bike, or e-bike, is a bicycle equipped with an electric bike motor to assist you when you’re pedaling. The electric pedal assist literally BOOSTS every push of the pedal making long distances and uphill slopes feel effortless.

E-bike tours are exploding in popularity because they let guests be active yet relax and pay attention to the scenery. Guests can go farther and get to iconic locations “boosting” their Alaskan experience. They can also take an active adventure tour where couples, groups, and families of different ages and fitness levels can explore together. Different ability and fitness levels are equalized because they get to choose the level of electric assist.

Upon arrival at the seaside base on Douglas Island, you will be outfitted with glacier overboots and a floatation device. Professional staff will provide a thorough safety briefing before helping you load into an A-Star helicopters.

Your pilot will choose one of many scenic routes to fly you to Dog World, providing stunning views of the Tongass National Forest and Juneau Icefield along the way on your very own Juneau helicopter tour. You might even get lucky enough to spot wildlife or a calving glacier!

Upon landing at Dog World, you will be greeted by your guide, a professional musher with years of experience dog sledding in Alaska.

The guides are eager to share their lifestyle and teach you the basics of dogsled handling and dog commands, along with leading you on an exciting mush for up to two miles.

You will be mushing with Alaskan Huskies born and raised in the interior of Alaska. You will be able to observe, firsthand, how the dogs respond to the tour guides with love, a wagging tail, and an unshakable desire to take guests with them down the trail.

You will have a full hour on the glacier before the helicopters return for your gorgeous flight back to base. There will be a brief opportunity to visit our gift shop and view your dogsledding photos before our comfortable vans escort you back to your pickup location.

Following a brief ride along the beautiful Gastineau Channel, your driver will set the stage for your underground adventure.

Donning hard hats, the tour proceeds along a boardwalk into a 360 foot-long tunnel. An experienced miner will demonstrate hard rock mining techniques and acquaint you with the mining lifestyle.

Back at the mill the guide will explain why this mill was unique compared to others in the area. You will see the John Peterson 3 Stamp Mill in operation and you will try your own hand at panning for gold and garnets. Pay dirt is guaranteed and you keep what you find!

Wander through the displays and see the first steam engine brought to Alaska. Enjoy complimentary hot beverages and bring back that special something from the gift shop.

You begin at a comfortable heli-base where you will be outfitted in glacier boots and given a safety briefing by friendly tour attendants. From here you will load up into a state of the art helicopter and be whisked away to begin your dog sledding adventure. Highly trained pilots will narrate the scenic helicopter ride on your way to the main attraction, the mighty Glacier. During your flight you will have a bird’s eye view of the lush Tongass Rainforest, soaring mountain peaks, and the spectacular Mendenhall Glacier.

As you touch down at an authentic dog mushing camp, you will be greeted by professional dog mushers and their energetic companions, the Alaskan Huskies! Experience the unique thrill as these athletes pull you through the snow that blankets the top of the glacier. Take turns directing the dogs with your musher and relaxing in the sled.

After your exhilarating sledding experience, you will have time to cuddle with puppies and chat with your dog musher before boarding your helicopter to return to the heli-base. Experience a once-in-a-lifetime adventure and check off that item on your bucket list.

After your dog mushing, Before touching down again, you will have a birds-eye view of the awe-inspiring blue glacier ice, deep crevasses, spectacular ice falls and the jagged peaks of the Mendenhall Towers.

During the 25 minutes you spend on the glacier you will learn how glaciers are formed and what makes them so spectacular. The tour will allow you to explore melt-water pools, feel glacial silt, and capture all of the beauty on your camera. The adventure isn’t over yet; join your pilot in the helicopter for a ride back to our base to take in the Alaskan beauty from the air one last time. Leaving the glacier behind you will take with you memories that will last a life-time.

This sumptuous all you can eat feast features a signature alderwood-grilled WILD Alaska salmon, Cheechako chicken, Chilkoot baked beans, Tongass wild-rice pilaf, hot chowder, a selection of sides, salads, beverages and homemade blueberry cake for dessert.

Beer and wine are available for purchase. Relax listening to live music in a truly unique, lush rainforest environment under heated, translucent domes. Have fun roasting marshmallows over a campfire and taking photos at the interactive, gold rush mural.

The trail is considered strenuous with about 800 feet in vertical elevation gain, and requires you to be sure-footed while crossing slippery stones and rock screes. It is all worth it when you climb the final ridge, and the jagged face of the glacier bursts into view with its river of ice coursing behind it.

The glacier is in constant change and its features disappear and reappear over the course of the season, this includes the ice caves.

We’ll embark on a guided trek to explore an array of glacial features along the edge. These features may include moulins, crevasses, and ice caves, if available. Because the glacier is in a state of constant change, not all features may be present or accessible. Every day is different on the ice!

After an adventure at the glacier, we’ll hike back on the West Glacier Trail and provide transportation back to your pick-up location.

Join us on an excursion where you will learn about Alaska’s official state sport with a trip to Dog Sledding Summer Camp. Your adventure begins on the breathtaking drive along Gastineau Channel, through the historic AJ Gold Mine site and into the remote and scenic Sheep Creek Val-ley. As you arrive at the summer camp training site, you will be greeted by a professional dog musher and some of the state’s most famous athletes: the Alaskan huskies! You will receive an educational tour of the camp, visit a 19th century replica of an Iditarod Outpost and enjoy fresh baked cookies.

Next, climb aboard a comfortable wheeled cart and relax as your energetic Alaskan husky team whisks you along the one-and-a-half-mile trail through the beautiful landscape.

You’ll return to Dog Sledding Summer Camp for your chance to meet the dogs and snuggle the next generation of great Alaskan athletes: sled dog puppies! This family-friendly excursion is truly an authentic Alaskan experience.

After a narrated drive to Douglas Island you’ll be surrounded with mountain views and pristine old growth forest. Once you’ve arrived at the lodge, you’ll be greeted by friendly and knowledgeable guides who will outfit you with top of the line gear.  You’ll have a safety briefing and optional practice zips before taking your “leap of faith” into the trees.

As you make your way through 5 ziplines, with the longest zip being about 600 feet long, you and your guide will stop and land in fully enclosed treehouse platforms where you can take in the scenery or snap some pictures.

Hear about living in Southeast Alaska  and the forest flora and fauna you’re seeing. Close to the end of your trip, you’ll cross a suspension bridge over a rushing stream. Top off your tour by embracing your inner lumberjack and try your hand at Axe Throwing.

Back at the lodge you’ll have time for a light snack while watching a slideshow of the pictures your guide has taken of you during your adventure. There’s a gift shop where you can purchase your pictures and other mementos of your time in the trees.

Your bear viewing trip will give you the chance to view and photograph a variety of wildlife in their natural settings. Eagles, other birds and harbor seals are commonly sighted on these trips. Brown and black bears are seen frequently, and we occasionally see, Sitka black-tailed deer, and otters as well.

All of the locations you go bear viewing are located in true wilderness. You will often see eagles, bears, deer and whales while exploring their backyard. Many guests enjoy the setting as much as the bear viewing itself!

Your guide will share his/her knowledge of brown bears, and the wildlife and fascinating natural history of the area. Photographers and nature enthusiasts will marvel at this opportunity to discover the unexpected-a once-in-a-lifetime experience that allows a rare look into the world of one of the grand and majestic animals of the great Alaskan wilderness.
